Trip to the Northwoods

Our trip to Minnesota was one full of firsts for Henry! He:
  • Went to his first birthday party (for his big cousin Mina who turned 7).
  • Went to his first parade (Land of the Loon).
  • Ate his first "cookie" (a barley teething biscuit).
  • Got, but didn't get to meet, his first BOY cousin Jack.
  • Took his first trip to Gordy's.
  • Ate his first pickle (at Gordy's).
  • Got his first bug bite (he got it in Ely where we went to play with our friends the Devines).
  • Ate watermelon WITH a shirt on (only at Grandma's house).
  • Learned to take his hat off (which makes protecting his pale, bald little Scandinavian head from the sun a real challenge).
  • Took a bath in the big tub (instead of the blow-up seal tub).
  • Went to bed past 5:30pm (he made it until almost 8:00 two of the nights!).
  • Learned to take little steps with someone holding his hands.

  • Ate an orange! He loved sucking the juice out.
  • Went to his first wedding (where he looked so handsome and got to meet his buddy Jack!).

We had a great trip north, but missed Dada like crazy. And we really missed Madison. We celebrated our return (and Henry's 8th month) today by meeting up with some friends on the lawn of the capitol for some music at "Lunchtime Live." It was good to see our buddies! Henry spent most of the time eating grass and checking out all the people.
