Our holiday season is off to a fun start. We headed north this weekend to make cookies with Papa and Helen, as we've been doing for the past three years right before Christmas. This is what the thermostat said up there:
But that was fine, we weren't planning on playing outside anyway; we had cookies to make! Henry's first job was to remove the foil from all of the chocolate kisses. He was completely focused and didn't really realize what he was doing until we let him eat one when he finished his task (hehe).
The cinnamon sticks were next. This is my side of the family's traditional holiday cookie. They are made of sugar and butter and that's about it...then they're rolled in cinnamon and sugar. Henry put his play-dough skills to work here.
Then it was time for sugar cookies with frosting. Henry really loved decorating these; I couldn't believe how intensely he was concentrating on frosting them.
Note the look of pure adoration for his papa.
He used his new art skill during this part of the evening...color mixing like he does when he paints with his Grandma and cousins! He made some awesome tie-dye type colors and some beautiful browns.
A fun tradition to carry on for the years to come!
